Adult H

Gender: Male Male / Status: Unknown / Voiced by: 日本語 Unknown / en-US Unknown
Kotoko getting beat Adult H (オトナH) was one of Kotoko Utsugi's abusers. He briefly appeared in Kotoko's flashback after Monaca Towa knowingly triggered Kotoko into a panic attack using her the word "gentle" against her.
In the flashback, Adult H praised Kotoko for pleasing the director, the producer, and the sponsors. He then manipulated her to attend "another business" with her mother, who had a history of prostituting Kotoko and herself as a set,[1] promising that everyone would be "gentle" with her.
Trivia:
  • In Japanese, "H", or more specifically H suru (Hする), is synonymous to the word ecchi suru (エッチする), which means "to have sex." As a noun, it is a slang used to describe a lustful person.

Jataro Kemuri's Mother

Gender: Female Female / Status: Deceased / Voiced by: None
Jataro Kemuri's mother is a minor character featured in Danganronpa Another Episode.
History:
“ I want him to die so badly it makes me cry. And the fact that he has such a worthless face just makes me even more sad. It makes me think I'm the one who's wrong. I shouldn't have had you.

— Jataro's mother[2]
”

Jataro was born and raised in Towa City to a mother who regretted having him. To raise Jataro, she had to sacrifice several things she wanted to do in life, including obtaining qualifications and licenses, taking lessons, and working more. She was bitter because she felt her life had become nothing more than a platform for his life. Every night, she wished her son would be dead by the next morning, and she sighed in disappointment because he was not. She wished he would stop being healthy and disappear. Her disdain was exacerbated by Jataro's beautiful face, causing her to feel guilty at not having a shred of affection for him.

Despite her conflicted feelings, Jataro's mother was still cruel enough to force him to wear a stuffy mask every single day. She was ashamed to show him to anyone and told him that he did not look like other children, which unsurprisingly warped Jataro's perception of himself. He was convinced that his face was so awful and ugly that the mere sight of him would cause the eyeballs of any beholder to explode or rot away. She deprived her son of feeling any happiness and mentally scarred him enough that Jataro could tell which adults genuinely hated him based on how they looked at him. To cope with the constant abuse, Jataro internalized hatred itself as something that possessed a comforting quality, so he can always be at peace even when he was abused. He believed that it was necessary, because he knew his home life wasn't going to get better.

After Jataro and his friend group, the Warriors of Hope, fall under Junko Enoshima's influence, Jataro developed a violent hatred of adults and murdered his mother in the process. However, even after killing his mother, Jataro continued to wear his mask and yearn to be hated by everyone around him.

Kotoko Utsugi's Parents

Gender: Male Male Female Female/ Status: Deceased / Voiced by: None
Kotoko Utsugi's parents are minor characters featured in Danganronpa Another Episode.
History:
“ Even if you cry and say it hurts, or it's too scary, the men still pay. Sometimes, they even pay more. Even tears have value. Being young is a horrifying thing.

— Kotoko's mother[1]
”

Kotoko's parents lived and raised their daughter in Towa City. The father worked as a dentist while the mother managed Kotoko's professional activities. Their home life began deteriorating when the father began neglecting his business to pursue his affair with his dental assistant. Kotoko was then pressured by him into becoming the family's breadwinner. She speculated that her father's cheating behavior was caused by his inferiority complex, pointing to his habit of role-playing as a brain surgeon despite being a dentist.

When Kotoko was about ten years old, her parents had her be prostituted to parties who were willing to shell a large sum of money out for their daughter, which included Kotoko's producers, directors, and sponsors. Kotoko was then repeatedly raped by them for easy money, though her mother claimed that she did it out of a twisted form of parental love and often accompanied her as a "mother and daughter set." She believed that this was in her daughter's best interests and that it would help further Kotoko's career, make her "sparkle forever" and have the spotlight.[1] Kotoko, on the other hand, only wanted to be a normal child and had to beg her mother to stop prostituting her by promising to sing and act better. Her mom ignored her pleas and instead manipulated the young Kotoko into obeying her by breaking down in tears in front of her. This left Kotoko no other choice but to endure it all and stop complaining because making her mother cry would've hurt her more.[5] As a result of the trauma, she ended up developing a breakdown trigger to the word "gentle", a euphemism her rapists had used to describe their assault.[3]

After Kotoko and her friend group, the Warriors of Hope, fall under Junko Enoshima's influence, Kotoko unleashed her undue resentment by killing his parents. She particularly wished to kill her father over and over again, and created a weapon she called Denture Launcher inspired by his dentist profession.

Masaru Daimon's Father

Gender: Male Male / Status: Deceased / Voiced by: None
Masaru Daimon's father is a minor character featured in Danganronpa Another Episode.
History:
“ I hate my son's face when I'm teaching him a lesson. The smile he forces so that I'll stop hitting him creeps me out. He can't just cry or yell like a regular kid? Shit, I got myself a defective product.

— Masaru's father[4]
”

Masaru was raised in Towa City by his alcoholic father. Based on Masaru's statements and diary, the smell of alcohol wafted throughout his dark and dreary home, which he associated with his father. He was a short-tempered man who would often lash out at his own son for reasons as trivial as Masaru coughing while he smoked. He also made a habit of forcing Masaru to supply his drinking habit. Masaru failed on his first try since he was underage and couldn't present an ID during the purchase. On his second try, Masaru resorted to stealing and was caught red-handed by the police, who then came to his door to question his father. Outraged by the humiliation this incident brought upon him, he began to beat Masaru on a daily basis as a "teaching lesson."[4]

Although Masaru was afraid of his physically abusive father, he didn't resent him and instead began to think that the issue lied with him. He blamed himself for not being able to buy him alcohol properly and constantly apologized when he angered him at every turn. He developed a fear of abandonment and would rather have his father hit him than be thrown away.[5] Every time his dad beat him, Masaru forced a smile so he wouldn't hate him. However, the father hated the smiling and considered his son abnormal and defective for it.[4]

After Masaru and his friend group, the Warriors of Hope, fall under Junko Enoshima's influence, Masaru developed a violent hatred of adults and murdered his father in the process. However, Masaru's mortal fear of his father persisted even after his death. He was easily triggered by memories of his past abuse and any association he has to his father, such as the smell of alcohol.

Monaca Towa's Mother

Gender: Female Female / Status: Unknown / Voiced by: None
Monaca Towa's mother was the mistress of Tokuichi Towa.
“ I never expected my mother would abandon me to my father, someone I never met before. I never thought something like that could happen to me, meow. If this were a fairy tale, the main character would tie the knot with a prince from somewhere. But I knooow this is reality. Not some silly old tale. The only thing I can do is siiigh...

— Monaca, about her parents[6]
”

After she became pregnant, Tokuichi decided to allow the pregnancy if she raised the baby. However, after giving birth, she abandoned the child and left her with her father.[6] The baby was given the name Monaca.

In her diary, Monaca wrote about growing up suicidal for being abandoned by her own mother and having to live among people who viciously hated her, or in her own words, in "that horrible world."[6]

Nagisa Shingetsu's Parents

Gender: Male Male Female Female/ Status: Deceased / Voiced by: None
Nagisa Shingetsu's parents are minor characters featured in Danganronpa Another Episode.
History:
“ If I do not obtain any desirable results with the experiment, I will conclude that the problem lies with the subject, and change my experimental target.

— Nagisa's father mother[7]
”

Nagisa's parents raised their son in Towa City to be among society's elites and excel at all scholarly pursuits. His father, who worked at Hope's Peak Academy's elementary school as a teacher and researcher of children's talents, put a similar expectations on Nagisa when he attends the insitutiton as the Li'l Ultimate Social Studies. Nagisa's father was particularly fixated on seeing how a child's talent would develop if pushed to the breaking point, leading him to use his own son as a guinea pig for the experiment and Nagisa's mother joining as a willing accomplice.[8]

Nagisa described his parents' inhumane experiment as if they were playing a game. In order for Nagisa to "gain EXP and level up" to their expectations, they forced him to study for unhealthy lengths of time, often nonstop for days, and with hardly any breaks. He would be administered with analeptics when he felt drowsy and tired, and when he fainted, he would be connected to an IV with energy supplements to "restore HP".[8]

The grueling experiment, alas, did not yield the results Nagisa's father was hoping for. Instead of seeing wrong in his way of doing things, he intensified the experiment by erecting cameras to observe Nagisa at all times, gradually reducing his breaks and threatening his son with dangerous items if he dared to even show the slightest resistance or rest longer than allowed. Should he still not obtain any desirable results, he would consider his son a failure as a test subject and would replace him with another victim.[7] Nagisa, not knowing any better, blamed himself for falling short of his father's expectations, and to make up for it, he continued to endure the abusive experiment.[9]

After Nagisa and his friend group, the Warriors of Hope, fall under Junko Enoshima's influence, Nagisa developed a hatred of adults and murdered his parents in the process. During Demon Hunting, he pondered whether the Warriors of Hope's action was justified and therefore riddled with guilt.[10] Nonetheless, his abusive upbringing has conditioned him to believe that the only way for him to earn others' approval was to fulfill their expectations no matter how harmful or unreasonable they may be. Placing any sort of expectations on him then manifested as a form of trigger. It propelled him to try his best to exceed those expectations set for him, even at the expense of his own well-being and overall health. He was particularly keen to prove his worth to people he deeply respected and loved, such as his parents even after they were long dead.

Tokuichi Towa

Gender: Male Male / Status: Deceased / Voiced by: 日本語 Junpei Asahina[11] / en-US Unknown
Tokuichi Towa Tokuichi Towa (塔和 十九一) was the latest Chairman of Towa Group.
History:

Early Life
Years after the birth of his first born son, Haiji, Tokuichi had an affair with his mistress and when she became pregnant, he decided to allow the pregnancy if she raised the baby. However, after giving birth, she abandoned the child and left her with her father.[6] The baby was given the name Monaca.

Tokuichi thought of giving Monaca to an orphanage but instead took her into his family. However, Monaca was always unwanted and everyone else felt uncomfortable around her. Every time Monaca smiled or joked, the others looked at her coldly, as if she didn't deserve to laugh. Every time she spoke, the others turned silent. Haiji thought of her as an alien and he was quite sure that she would end up destroying his family.[12] It was implied that Monaca was even physically abused by her family, and one time she pretended to be badly wounded as a result. She started to pretend to be paraplegic, because she was finally treated with some kindness and she could have more control over people. Believing that they caused it, Tokuichi and Haiji felt pity for her.

Even though Monaca was disliked in the family, she had a genius intellect and became a Chief Executive of Towa Group Robotics Branch, surpassing Haiji.

The Tragedy
Around the time the Tragedy was growing, Monaca was influenced by and helped Junko Enoshima to mass produce Monokumas by using her position as a representative of the Towa Group. She lied to Tokuichi and the other adults in order to produce the Monokumas, telling them that she wanted to create Maid Robots that could be domestic helpers and emergency aid workers. Due to her genius, her family decided to give her leg room to do what she wanted as long as she brought in profits to the company, and didn't delve too deeply into her plans.

Defying my rule daddy
When he learned of the Monokumas' true use as killing machines during the Tragedy, Tokuichi tried to stop production, but Monaca blackmailed him to let her continue, warning that if he stopped her, she would tell Junko to spread the fact that the ones who made the murderous Monokumas was in fact the Towa Group. Monaca also gave her father the idea to make both Monokumas and weapons against them. As a result, Towa Group made even more money and looked like heroes to the public, but was forced to work together with Junko's organization, the Ultimate Despair. Towa Group gained money, honor and protection from their alliance with Ultimate Despair and in the end Tokuichi was corrupted and became a big supporter of Junko Enoshima, Ultimate Despair and the Tragedy.
“ The residents of this city owe all the peace and prosperity we enjoy to Tokuichi Towa. However, despite our progress, the future remains uncertain. If we are struck again with a disaster equally as powerful as that incident, we will not be able to withstand. We await the fast recovery of the government and national order to be restored.[13]
”

Towa Group made several PR stunts to keep their name clean. Tokuichi, who lacked political experience, for instance, undertook the task of managing peace and order while the government was in complete disarray, showcasing his remarkable aptitude at listening to the voices of the people.[13] He also planned to upscale the business side of Towa Hills, a city landmark only trumped by Towa Tower.[14]

Danganronpa Another Episode - Haiji witnessing Tokuichi's death

After the death of Junko, her influence grew weaker and weaker and Future Foundation became more powerful. Tokuichi seized this opportunity to call off Towa Group's patronage, which Monaca deemed as an act of betrayal against Junko. As a result, she ordered her Monokumas to maul Tokuichi to death at Towa Hills Chairman's Office with Haiji present. Haiji managed to escape carrying his deepened hatred and desire for revenge against Monaca.

Demon Hunting

“ * "I-I beg of you...Please stop Monaca...Avenge...me!"

— To Komaru Naegi
”
Tokuichi spirit
During her Demon Hunting game, Monaca locked access to Towa Hills' upper floors to force Haiji to scan them open using their dead father's eye. Haiji realized that this was exactly Monaca's intention, so he backed out and requested that Komaru Naegi and Toko Fukawa do it on his behalf. They subsequently retrieved Tokuichi's decapitated head for the elevator's retinal identification, when suddenly Tokuichi's ghost appeared and told Komaru that Haiji and Monaca were siblings. He also asked her to stop Monaca, before he was driven away by Toko's chanting. Toko argued Komaru merely hallucinated due to exhaustion, but she started to believe the spirit possession was real after Monaca confirmed the information they learn from Tokuichi was factual.
Personality:

Tokuichi was a poor and abusive father figure to Monaca, whom he considered an unwanted child. Later on, he became jealous of her intellect, which led both him and Haiji to subject Monaca to various forms of neglect and cruelty, making her aware that she was an "outsider" within the Towa family. He only became nicer to her after falling for Monaca's fake disability act, believing he might have caused it.

As a businessman, he cared about Towa Group more than anything else. He even manifested himself as a ghost to request Komaru to stop Monaca before she ruined his company and family's name further. While alive, he was greedy and corrupt. He had his initial reservations about supporting Junko's cause, though he eventually discarded his morals and continued his patronage, all for the sake of money and honor. Similarly, it was for this reason he took in Monaca, so he could exploit her talent and turn her into the company's moneymaker.

While possessing Komaru, however, Tokuichi displayed a sense of honor by reassuring her that he wouldn't do something as "lowly" as cursing her. He remained resentful toward his daughter but instead of reflecting on his past wrongdoings, he blamed Junko for driving Monaca insane and rebellious.

Since he also had other business ventures, such as bamboo forests and foreign trade, Tokushige continued to employ his strong will and brilliant business sense to expand his company. He established a new business once every 20 days from age 30 to his death at 64.[16]

According to his wife, Tomoko, Tokushige pushed himself constantly for the sake of "the prosperity of mankind." Since he was the only one who knew the password to turn off the factory's lasers, Komaru, Toko, and Haiji must discover it on their own by gathering clues available in the Management Room where his body was discovered.

Based on the clues Komaru gathered, the staff had a son whose birthday fell on July 18th (0718), which he used as the password. He was excited to spend time together with him and his wife, wondering what present he should buy for his son. Komaru pondered whether he died prior or after the celebration.
